On Apr. 19, 1880, his will was probated in the Buncombe County Courthouse.

"There was no provision for a burying ground at the church across the creek, so we find the early settlers burying at the Ingram Graveyard down the valley from the church and at Tabernacle Community Cemetery. Later people began burying at the graveyard on the little mountain near Burnett's Mills that later became the site for the church on its removal from its original location.

He was reported to have been buried with wife, Nancy, in the Tabernacle Community Cemetery, Black Mountain, Buncombe Co., NC. No grave markers are visible today."
