Born on the family farm in Wakefield (Township) of Stearns County, MN; Maria died of influenza at age 4.

NOTE: There was a influenza epidemic sweeping across Central Minnesota at the time; family history states that the parents went to town to bury one of their children; when they returned they found another had died.

In a six-day period, the Minnerath family lost three children; Franz, Amelia & Maria.
