Bert Vanderbilt, 101, passed away May 18, 2011, in Coeur d'Alene. He was born March 6, 1910, to John and Jenny Blankenspoor in Rock Valley, Iowa.

He married Mary Donkelaar in 1933 in Juneau, Alaska, where they had a son and daughter. Mary Donkelaar VanderBilt Cluster (1913-1954) They settled on a farm in East Hayden Lake. Bert and son operated a small sawmill and planer in the area until Bert's retirement.

He married Grace Barber in 1948 and settled in Athol.

Bert is survived by his son and wife, Bud and Mary Vanderbilt of Hayden Lake; daughter Jeanette Miller of Athol; four grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 18 great-great-grandchildren and brother John Vanderbilt of California.

He was preceded in death by his wife Grace; great-granddaughter Pennie Miller; sisters Henrietta VanderBilt VanLoo & Jeanette VanderBilt and brothers Henry VanderBilt, Arthur VanderBilt, Bernard VanderBilt, Maas VanderBilt, Cornelius VanderBilt and Edward VanderBilt
