Ezra married first SARAH ANN BAYLESS, whose family were also early settlers in Sheffield Township. He ran “the old tavern” in Dayton until Sarah died in 1843. He then traveled extensively, before marrying MARTHA MCGEORGE, a daughter of Samuel McGeorge, Indian trader and horse breeder, who owned half of Richardville Reserve south of Dayton before his death in 1834 (bur. Wyandotte Cem.). Ezra farmed part of the land for a few years, then farmed in Benton County, before settling in Lafayette in the monument business.

Of his five children, only two survived to adulthood, John S. Bush and Mary (Mrs. Robert) John.
