Lydia Ann Hess was the 4th ( of 10 ) child born to Lydia Ann ( Landon ) and Lewis ( Hasz ) Hess Sr.

Lydia was born in Maryland but came to Illinois in 1864 at the age of 5 years.

Miss Lydia Ann Hess married Mr Arthur Barrett on July 26, 1876 in Fulton County, Illinois. She was 17 years old and Arthur was 25 years old on the day that they were married.

After Arthur & Lydia were married, they moved to Kansas for about 11 years before returning to Schuyler County, Illinois.

Eleven children were born in Kansas. Three children died young & the remaining 12 children reached adulthood. The children that passed away were also buried in White Oak cemetery.

Lydia moved to Colchester after Arthur passed away in September 1910. Lydia and Arthur were married for 34 years when Arthur passed away.

Lydia was a member of the Free Methodist Church.

Lydia passed away in 1943 from Arteriosclerosis. She left 11 children, 33 grandchildren and 36 great grandchildren to mourn her loss.

She was 84 years 20 days old when she passed away.

Lydia was buried next to her beloved husband Arthur.She
has a new Headstone that was lovingly made by her second Great Granddaughter Labs2006. Her burial site is located between Arthur and her son Glen Ansel ( he does not have a headstone). To the right of Glen is his sister Maude who does have a headstone.
