Of the 13 children in the family of Vincent Dillon Sr and Hannah Jackson Dillon, Vincent Jr was the first born in Lawrence Co. following the Dillon family resettlement from Monroe Co., Ohio c1847. Vincent and Caroline M. Rodgers were married November 28, 1867, by Wilson Gardner, Rev. To this union were born: Clara Belle, Cora May, Edward Remington and Rozza (Rausa) Melissa Dillon. Herschel Gilbert Dillon, though not their son by birth, may have been adopted or accepted as a family member.

Vincent Dillon was a blacksmith and lived a short distance north of his father's farm in Windsor Twp., Lawrence Co., Ohio.

V. Dillon, the blacksmith here, says he has been taking the Register for a great many years and the Rambler's "On the Round" is very interesting to him. Says business is extraordinarily good. Mr. Dillon lives on one of the highest summits in Lawrence county and one can see the surrounding country and view naturie's beauty and breathe the fresh air which is so enlivening at this elevation."
