Vincent was born In Franklin Twp., Greene Co., Pennsylvania to John Dillon and Rachel Hamilton Dillon, most likely on the family homestead established by his grandfather, Peter Dillon. Little is know of his youth, though he married Hannah Jackson c1830. By the middle 1830s Vincent with his family, including his father and mother resettled to Monroe Co., Ohio where they lived until about 1846 or 1847. His mother, Rachel, died in Monroe Co. and was most likely buried in the Hamilton Cemetery, which was located a short distance from the John Dillon farm. Vincent, upon his arrival in Lawrence Co., purchased upto 600 acres here in Windsor Twp., the site of his family cemetery, which would later be deeded to the Gibson ME Church following his death in 1892. Though the cemetery includes several of Vincent's relatives, it also includes members of other local farming families. Vincent and Hannah raised 12 children here into their adulthood. Looking at this cemetery, the Vincent and Hannah grave monument can be seen at the opposite or north end as are several other unmarked stones. One of these may be the gravesite of Vincent's father, John, who we know died shortly after the Dillon family resettled here from Monroe Co. c1847.
