Catherine (Daniels) Hess was the 7th child and 4th daughter (of 12 children) of Revolutionary War Veteran Daniel Daniels (1763-1849) and his wife Catherine (Clevenger) Daniels (1767-1840).

Catherine was the namesake of her mother Catherine and the two were very close. Catherine was also particularly close to her next older sister Mary (Daniels) Hess (1795-1882). Mary Daniels married Jacob Hess in February 1814. Exactly a year later Catherine married Jacob's twin brother Jeremiah Hess on February 16, 1815 in Bedford County, Pennsylvania. Two sisters married two brothers. Catherine would have a happy marriage with Jeremiah with whom she had 12 children (same number of children as her parents).

Dennis Hess (b. Dec. 1823) named after his maternal uncle Dennis Daniels (1802-1881) who became Sheriff of Fulton County, Pennsylvania. Dennis married Frances Morton (1814-1850) with whom he had 3 children.

Abraham Hess (b. March 20, 1825) named after his paternal grandfather Abraham Hess (1762-1821). Young Abraham died shortly after birth

Daniel Hess (1825-1845) named after his maternal grandfather Daniel Daniels (1763-1849). Daniel died of Scarlet Fever just before his 20th birthday. His grandfather and namesake outlived him by 4 years.

Adam Hess (b. 1832) twin brother of Job. Died young.

Florinda Hess (b. Aug. 29, 1834 - d. Sep. 2, 1834) Died in infancy.

Dorothy Sara Hess (1834-1912). Second wife of Adam Hess (1821-1900) with whom she had 3 children.

Catherine Hess (1839-1922) named after her mother. She married Thomas Hessler (1824-1904) with whom she had 2 children.
