Margaret Ervin had the privilege of living an active, interesting life, short though it was. She attended the "Normal" school in Greensboro.

"Death of Miss Margaret Ervin"
"Fell "asleep in Jesus" September 9, 1911, at 8:30 a.m., Margaret, third daughter of S. J. and L. P. Ervin, in the 20th year of her age.
"When this was known, almost every heart in the community was filled with sorrow. Ever modest, loving, and lovable, charitable, in words and deed, all who knew this pure and gentle spirit loved her. She had been confined to a chamber of suffering, bearing her cross patiently, and by her gentleness and patience, convincing all there is no true happiness in this life apart from faith in Christ. Very dear was the church of God to her heart, but her soul was ready to depart and be with Christ, which is far better. One moment the sick room, the next the great deep swell of the angels' song, and her beautiful soul passed through the valley of death into the Eternal light.

Sunset and night?
Why, I have work to do that needs the noon, and days broad light!
See! There on the pallette there the colors are but set
The canvas still unwet
And it is Night!"
According to her death certificate, Margaret was still at school when she succumbed to pulmonary tuberculosis, which she 'd had for 5 or 6 years.
