Laura Lonette Rudd Ford Smith

Laura Lonette Smith of New Home was a faithful follower of her Lord and went to Heaven on Wednesday August 24, 2011 at the age of 66.
Lonette was born January 13, 1945 in Slaton to E. M. and Billie Westmoreland Rudd. She graduated from New Home High School and went on to become a licensed beautician. Lonette married Don Smith on January 12, 1979, in Lubbock. They made their home in New Home where she was a member of the New Home Baptist Church and sang with the Sweet Adeline's.
Lonette and her husband were part owners of CASA Computer and Software Associates in Lubbock from 1986 to the early 1990's. She also worked in the Tahoka and New Home schools and KJAK Radio for more than eight years until retiring. Lonette was an active member of the NRA and faithful servant to those in need. She regularly contributed to many charitable organizations.
Lonette's memory will be cherished by her husband of more than 32 years Don; son Chad Ford and wife Rochelle of Lubbock; daughter Crystal Ford Godsey and husband Keith of Flower Mound; stepsons Roy L. Smith and wife Angie of Aurora, Colorado and Tracy B. Smith of Floydada; stepdaughter Virginia A. Aldridge of Post; brother Don B. Rudd of Bedford; 12 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Lonette was preceded in death by her parents E. M. and Billie Rudd; one brother Marlow Rudd; one sister Linda Beach; and one grandson Aaron Smith.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM on Friday August 26, 2011 at Combest Family Funeral Homes in Tahoka. Services are scheduled for 10 AM Saturday August 27, 2011 at New Home Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park in Lubbock.
