Born April 14, 1928, in Blandburg, Cambria Co., she was the daughter of the late Charles and Anna (Boyd) Hockenberry. Her first husband, Charles E. Harris, and her second husband, Kenneth Pyles, preceded her in death.
She is survived by her children, Barbara A. Yetter and husband, William, Mifflin, Helen Watts and husband, Larry, New Oxford, Virginia Haubert and husband, Robert, RR 1, McAlisterville, Charles Harris and wife, Sandy, Mifflin; one brother, Thomas Hockenberry and wife, Shirley, Hawk Run, PA; 12 grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Marion Letcher, and two brothers, Jack Hockenberry and George Hockenberry.
She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, Mifflin, was a life member of the ladies aux. of Crawford-Brubaker VFW Post no. 5863 and a life member of the ladies aux. of American Legion Post no. 298, both of Mifflintown.
In earlier life, she worked for Kinney Shoe Factory, Beaver Springs.
She enjoyed reading, spending time with her grandchildren and her cats.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 6, 2006, at 10:30 a.m., from Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown, with the Pastor William Muldoon officiating. Interment will follow in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery, Nook.
There will be no public viewing, however, family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m., Friday, at the funeral home.
The family will provide all funeral flowers and memorial contributions in Mrs. Pyles' memory may be made to the Trinity United Methodist Church, P.O. Box F, Mifflin 17058 or TLC Home Care, 400 Highland Ave., Lewistown, PA 17044 or Juniata Co. Meals-on-Wheels, c/o Diane Marshall, Treasurer, 311 Washington Ave., Mifflintown, PA 17059.
