Clarence N. Swanner Sr.
VIRGINIA BEACH - Clarence N. Swanner Sr., 98, passed away quietly in his home Aug. 7, 2011. He was born May 29, 1913 in Edenton, N.C., the son of the late Jesse and Lydia Swanner. Clarence was the owner of Swanner Market for more than 50 years. He was a member of Fairview Church of Christ and deacon emeritus. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Jeanette Rogerson. Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife, Brenda Golden Swanner; three children, Clarence Swanner Jr. (Chris), Faye Gobel (Gary) and Valerie Webb (Joe); 11 grandchildren, 13 great- grandchildren, 11 great-great-grandchildren and one great-great-great-grandchild. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 10, at Rosewood-Kellum Funeral Home. A funeral will be held at noon Thursday at the funeral home with burial to follow in Rosewood Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, you may make memorial donations to the Fairview Church of Christ Building fund in Clarence's name. You may offer your condolences to the family at www.kellumfuneralhome. com.
