Altoona Mirror June 15, 1953 page 24 and 21 - MRS. MARY ANN KOONTZ - Of Hopewell, R. D. 1, died at her home at 1.30 o'clock yesterday afternoon. She was born Dec. 11, 1878, at New Enterprise, R. D., a daughter of John and Jane (Reffner) Helsel. She was married to George R. Koontz Aug. 23, 1896. Surviving are her husband, two daughters, Mrs. Jennie Walters of Bellwood and Mrs. Lollie Horton of Martinsburg, R. D.; four sons, Hugh of Woodbury, George of Waterside, Albert of Chambersburg and James of Cleveland, O.; 23 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Loretta Baumgardner of Altoona, and one brother, David I. Helsel of Roaring Spring. Mrs. Koontz was a member of the Yellow Creek Brethren church.
