Jeremiah J. Hogan Dies Of Pneumonia
Death Followed An Illness Of Only Ten Days Duration
Jeremiah J. Hogan dies at his farm home on Sunday, June 8, 1930, following an illness of only ten days after pneumonia had confined him to his bed. The announcement of his death Sunday noon came as a shock to the entire community as he seemed to have passed the crisis with a fighting chance for recovery.
Born April 15, 1873 at Covington, Kentucky, he came to this county with his parents Ellen and Patrick Hogan, when a child and attended the local schools in this community. Jeremiah Joseph Hogan was one of the most prominent farms of this community and was universally respected for the fine qualities which made him a leader in agricultural circles in this section. His predominating characteristics were rugged honesty and painstaking attention to the details of his calling.
On November 6, 1912, he married Miss Helen Ford of Waseca and to this union six children were born as follows: Helen, Genevieve, Jerry, Agnes, Patricia and John. He is survived by his wife, six children and his brother, John.
The funeral services were held Tuesday morning, June 10, at eight thirty from the home and at nine o'clock at St. Ann's Catholic Church with Father Parkinson conducting the services. The pallbearers were John J. Cahill, John M. Byron, Emmett Hammel, Thomas Foley, Thomas Eustice and James McBride. Interment took place in St. Ann's cemetery. The funeral procession was one of the largest seen in this vicinity for many years.
Among those from out of town who attended the funeral were: Dr. and Mrs. Dennis Hogan, Mr. and Mrs. Timothy Sullivan and daughter Marie, Miss Genevieve and Andrew Eustice, Faribault; Mrs. Simington and son, Mrs. McKeon, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Hogan, Andrew Mulcahy and Mrs. Thomas Hogan, Minneapolis; William Naughton, St. Paul; Mr. and Mrs. Michael Queenan and Mr. and Mrs. Grotus Rutledge, Murdock; Mr. ands Mrs. George Tergen, Renville; Miss Florence Ford, Rochester, Miss Mercedes Ford, Mankato; Mr. and Mrs. Chris Eustice and family, Mrs. D. E. Hogan, Raymond Doyle and Mrs. Edward Ford and family, Waldorf; Mr. and Mrs. John Donovan and Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Donovan, Waseca. Many other friends from New Richland, Waldorf, Waseca and St. Marys were also in attendance.
