Deceased Had Been Resident Of County For About 70 Years
The death of John Hogan occurred at the Mrs. J. J. Hogan farm home at six o'clock A. M. Tuesday, December 11. The cause of death was heart trouble and complications incident to his declining years. The deceased had been in failing health since about the first of October this year.
John Hogan was born on April 11, 1858 and was seventy-three years of age at the time of his death. He was born in Covington, Kentucky and was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Patrick Hogan. He came to this county as a child and grew to manhood as one of the early pioneers of this vicinity. He followed the occupation of farming and throughout his active years shouldered his share of the burden of helping to develop this section of the state into the fine agricultural territory that it has become. Although of a retiring disposition, John Hogan was a kindly neighbor and a thoughtful friend. The deceased hade been a resident of this county for about seventy years.
The funeral services were held Monday morning at eight-thirty from the residence and at nine o'clock from St. Ann's Catholic Church with Father Parkinson in charge of the services. The pallbearers were J. J. Cahill, Thomas Eustice, Thomas Foley, James McBride, James Eustice and Mathew Keeley. Interment took place in the Janesville Catholic cemetery.
