The Oklahoman, Monday, Apr 21, 2008:
Mary Lou Hyroop was born Jan 5, 1937 in Coyle, Oklahoma to Velma (Phillips) and Lloyd Sullins. Mary Lou passed away Friday morning after an extended battle with cancer which she fought courageously, yet elegantly--as was the way she lived her life. Mary Lou’s great joy, strength, steadfastness, perseverance, love and peace in life came from her belief in and her love for her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and His word. Romans 11:36--For of Him, through Him, to Him, to whom He be glory forever. Amen.

Mary Lou was a loving and devoted wife to her husband, Gilbert. By far her greatest achievement was being a mother and grandmother. “There are many missions in this life, but the one in which I am most fulfilled and has given me the greatest joy and pleasure is being a Mother. My joy has been in Steve, Greg and Nichole.” --Mary Lou Hyroop, 1993.

Mary Lou was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved son, Stephen Wagoner; and her brother, Harold Sullins. She is survived by her loving husband, Gilbert Hyroop of the home; son, Greg Wagoner and Kelly Murphy of Orlando, Florida; daughter, Nichole Shepherd and husband Jeff; step-daughters Lea Zrenda and husband Steve; Ann Garland; and Kim Hodges and husband Joe; and brother Bill Phillips and wife Jan; grandchildren, Zachary Wagoner, Sophia and Charles “Cooper” Shepherd, Justin Grisham, Jamie Bleything, Brittany and Bailey Garland, and Michael and Alex Hodges. She is also survived by her beloved companions, her dogs, Lilly and Lola.

The family wishes to thank Vickie Negley with Hospice of Oklahoma County as well as the caring staff of 7-east at Integris Baptist Medical Center for their kindness and
care over the last eight weeks. A memorial service will be held at Hahn-Cook/Street & Draper Chapel on Tuesday, April 22, 2008 at 2 pm with interment immediately following at Rose Hill Burial Park. All are welcome. Memorial contributions may be made in Mary Lou’s name to Hospice of Oklahoma County, 4334 Northwest Expressway, #106, Oklahoma City, 73116.
