She was received and baptized by Philadelphia Baptist Church in June, 1847. Her name was shown as Emaly Lanford (md Roundtree) on those records and she was dismissed in December, 1854.

She, on September 30, 1852, married John Smith Rowntree (sometimes "Tree", sometimes J. S. Rowntree). John Smith Rowntree was born in 1830, was a Confederate soldier (unit has not been discovered), and was wounded several times, although he survived the War. They had seven children as follows: John Thomas Rowntree, born July 25, 1853; Emma A. (Frances ?), born October 9, 1854; James Turner Rowntree, born January 23, 1856; Mary Rowntree, born October 19, 1857; Dean Rowntree, born February 22, 1859; Dora Rowntree, born October 31, 1861; and William Hosea Rowntree, born May 23, 1868.

Her place of burial has not been learned.
