Going Home *************************
I watched as death's shadow slipped in the room,
Though startled and shaken to see it so soon;
For ever since childhood, my heart filled with fear
When talk of death's blackness came anywhere near.
Yet now, as it softly glides over my bed,
I see it's a window to slip through instead.
Then looking through, into the mist, I can see,
The friends and the loved ones, who preceded me,
All of them waiting to welcome me home.
Now suddenly here i feel almost alone.
I ache to be with them, yet something says no-
Your loved ones on earth do not want you to go.
If only they knew the things I now see,
They'd not be so sad-they'd be happy for me.
I've cherished each moment of life we have known,
Yet though i will miss you, I've got to go home.
