PIONEER PROSPECTOR WHO WA SWELL-KNOWN [sic] HERE DIES IN ROSSLAND HOSPITAL
The Rossland Saturday Night Miner says of the death of a pioneer prospector there recently, who was well-known to many of the local mining fraternity:
William Feeney, one of the pioneer prospectors of the Kootenays, died at the Sisters' Hospital last Friday after a lingering illness of several weeks and complications due to old age.
Mr. Feeney, who was possibly 80 years of age, was quite well known in the Slocan section and here also, coming to this city some time ago and entering the hospital for treatment.
The funeral took place on Monday morning from Jordan's undertaking parlors, the body being taken by motor to Ymir, where interment took place.
Quite a few of the friends of deceased motored here from the Slocan mining district and accompanying the remains to their last resting place Monday, some of the friends of deceased in this city also attending the funeral and accompanying the remains to Ymir.
The Wrigley's British Columbia directory for 1918 lists William Feeney as a rancher at Burnt Creek, 9 miles south of Salmo BC.
