SYLVANIA Mr. Edward Clifton, 78, died Thursday, December 8, 2005 at his residence. The Screven County native was a retired farm equipment dealer and a member of First United Methodist Church. He was also a WWII, U. S. Coast Guard Veteran. He was preceded in death by step-children Louis M. Strickland and Terri M. Strickland; and brothers, Homer Clifton and Virgil Clifton.
Survivors are wife, Linda Gayle Howell Clifton; two daughters and sons-in-law, Gail C. and Wilson Sanders of Sylvania, Ga., Michelle C. and Jim Johnson of Statesboro, Ga.; two sons and daughter-in-law, Terry Clifton of Savannah, Ga., Jerry and Kathy Clifton of Sylvania, Ga.; three step-daughters and son-in-law, Sheri S. and Mike Waters of Statesboro, Ga., Carol S. Peavy and Louisa Strickland of Sylvania, Ga.; sisters, Mary Pearl C. Bazemore, Eunice C. Griner and Annette Hill of Sylvania, Ga., Jane C. Hauge of Athens, Ga., Jean C. Damian of Watkinsville; a special brother, James Hill, Sylvania; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Special friends, Curtis Farmer of Sylvania and Arnell Howell of Midville also survive.
Visitation will be at Thompson-Strickland-Waters Funeral Home on Sunday, December 11, 2005 from 6 p.m.until 8 p.m.
Services will be held Monday, December 12, 2005 at Thompson-Strickland-Waters Funeral Home Chapel at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Ralph Dixon Jr. officiating. Interment will be at Screven County Memorial Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Juan Hill, Adam Hill, Jay Hill, Paul Hill, Bill Bazemore, and Donnie Griner. Honorary Pallbearers are Rabun Bragg, Ward Bragg.
