Junior Ray Gilmore (J.R.) of Overton, Nev. passed away on April 1 in Las Vegas, Nev. Junior was born in Evanston on Nov. 10, 1929 to Joseph and Elizabeth Gilmore. He was married to Sharon Dee Fotheringham on Sept. 10, 1955. They were later divorced. From this union, three children were born: Shayne Ray, Vicki Lyn and Daina Lee. Junior married Sharon Knight of Elko, Nev. on April 10, 1976.

Junior worked for the railroad for many years, and later took disability because of his back. He was in the Korean War from 1950 until 1952, stationed in Alaska. He loved to fish and hunt, sing and play music on his guitar. He loved doing woodwork and giving it away to all of his family. He was dearly loved by friends, brothers, sisters, children and grandchildren.

Junior was preceded in death by his wife Sharon on April 7, 2008; his parents Joseph and Elizabeth; three of his brothers: Fred, Glen (Bud) and Lloyd; and his stepson Scott Moody.

He is survived by three children: Shayne (Linda) Gilmore, Vicki (Kalei) Bright, and Daina Kadrmas; five stepchildren: Gail Janak, Danny Janak, Kelly (Dan) Gleason, John (Karen) Moody, and Misty Geary; six grandchildren: Kimberly Kennedy, Kristopher Bright, Bryan Gilmore, Kasey Kadrmas and Taylor Kadrmas; and four great-grandchildren: Kody, Nick, Kaden and Broc. He is also survived by two brothers: Gary (Colleen) Gilmore and Robert (Myrtle) Gilmore and four sisters: Ellen Lester, Betty Sholz, Flora Wagstaff, and Amy Gay (Bill) Narramore.

Services for Junior will be held on April 11 at 2 p.m. at the Evanston LDS Stake Center, 1224 Morse Lee Street. Junior was cremated and burial services will be held at the Evanston Cemetery at a later date.
