Ellen Louise Lester

Ellen Louise Lester, age 90, passed away at Rocky Mountain Care Center in Evanston.

She was born on May 14, 1921 in Evanston, the daughter of Joseph G. and Elizabeth Sarah Cook Gilmore.

She attended schools in Evanston.

She married John William Lester on Sept. 24, 1940 in Ogden, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake City Temple on August 3, 1985. Her spouse preceded her in death on Jan. 3, 2004.

She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and held numerous positions within the church including, stake missionary, and geneology worker, Sunday School and Primary teacher.

She was a member of The Homemaker's Club, and Adopt a Grandparent. She enjoyed family history, temple work, cooking, sewing, and quilt making. She also enjoyed family picture collecting and music.

She is survived by her son, Roy (Nadene) Lester, of Evanston, Wyoming; and daughters, Fern (Paul) Hoffman, of Carson City, Nevada; and Dixie (Dave) Harshbarger, of Evanston.

She is also survived by a brother, Robert (Myrtle) Gilmore, of Evanston; and Gary (Colleen) Gilmore, of Evanston. She is also survived by sisters, Amy Gay (Bill) Narramore, of Evanston; Flora Wagstaff, of Evanston; Betty Scholz, of Arvada, Colorado; and Marjorie Gilmore, of Evanston; and Karma Gilmore, of Hilliard.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Fred, Lloyd, Junior, Bud (Glen) Gilmore.; her husband, and a twin son, and a grandson, Dave Jay Oliver.

She is also preceded in death by two sons-in-law, Frank Sheets, and Dave Jay Oliver.

Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, May 25, 2011, at 11 a.m. at the Evanston L.D.S. Fourth Ward Building.

Interment will follow services at the Evanston City Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at Crandall Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 24, 2011 from 6 to 8 p.m.
