Norman is the son of Mary Hilda Banks and Leon Dutton Asay. He was about 10 years old when his father died. At the age of 13 he moved with his family to a farm near Frannie, Wyoming, when his mother married Arlie A. Delano. He attended school in the Deaver-Frannie School system. He joined the Navy at the age of 17. After serving his term, he returned to High School in Deaver to complete his High School education. In 1954 he married Katie Korral Phillips and helped to raise two of her three children, Mary Ellen Phillips and Henry Phillips. Although he never had any children of his own, he was a great father to these two and a favorite Uncle to his numerous nieces and nephews. He was a diabetic and passed away of complications after surgery in 1973. He is missed by all who knew him.
