Maxine Asay Wambeke, 84, of Deaver, passed away on Sunday, November 23, 2014 at North Big Horn Hospital in Lovell. Maxine made her home in Deaver, Wyoming for the past 64 years. She was born December 10, 1929 in Bonneville, Wyoming to Leon and Mary Hilda Asay, she was the fifth of eleven children. Maxine attended school in Spence, Thermopolis, Douglas, and Deaver.

She met the love of her life, Frank Wambeke, at a community picnic on Pryor Mountain in 1944. They were married on May 28, 1947 in Billings, Montana. She loved her life as a farmer’s wife. She could drive a beet truck or a tractor, irrigate or chase cows, and work side by side with Frank. Maxine and Frank had 5 children.

Maxine is survived by her husband Frank; her children, Ivy Englert, Renee Gomendi (Chuck), Paul Wambeke (Troy), Mona Sorenson (Mark), and Jenny VanLake (Terry); 14 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by 5 brothers, 2 sisters, 2 grandchildren, and 1 great-grandchild.
