John F. Clark, 85, of Ben Street in New Carlisle, Ind., passed away after a long illness Monday, July 23, in his home. Mr. Clark was born Jan. 28, 1916, to the late Glennie (Hooten) and Earl Clark. He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Lawrence, Arthur and Vernon "Gus" Clark.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Irma Luther Clark; daughters, Reva (Larry) Cooper of New Carlisle and Phyllis (Tom) Tag of Dayton, Ohio; sons, LaRue (Maureen) Clark of South Bend, Ind., and Mark (Annette) Clark of New Carlisle; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; sisters, Erma Campbell of South Bend, Jean Richards of South Bend, Phyllis (John) Hensell of New Carlisle, Patsy VanEmmons of Centerville, Mich.; and brothers, Dwight (Ann) Clark of South Carolina, Stuart (Carrie) Clark of New Carlisle; a stepsister, Vivien Moffett of Minnesota; and sisters-in-law, Petie Clark and Evelyn Schwenk of New Carlisle.

John was a life member in the International Painters Brotherhood. He was a recent recipient of the Gleaners Award for outstanding community service and the New Carlisle Community Service Award.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 26, in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 201 S. Filbert Street, New Carlisle, where friends may call one hour prior to services. Burial will follow at the Olive Chapel Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Huntington's Society, HDSA-Indiana Chapter, (Memorial Tributes), P.O. Box 2101, Indianapolis, IN 46206; or to Harbor Light Hospice, 300 N. Michigan Street, South Bend, IN 46601.
