Sarah Elah Gould (1878 - 1934) was born in Shelby Srings, Shelby, Alabama on December 26, 1878 to her parents, Green Graham Gould (1855 - 1919) & Elizabeth F. Moore (1856 - 1931). She and her siblings relocated with her parents in the Spring of 1885 from Shelby, Alabama to Lake, Scott, Mississippi. They relocated to Conehatta Village, Newton, Mississippi in 1888 and were recorded as living there until 1905 at which time they relocated back to Lake, Scott, Mississippi.

Sarah Elah Gould (1878 - 1934) Married Phillip "Bud" James (1866 - 1930) on September 28, 1902 in Newton, Mississippi. This marriage
resulted in no children being born. Phillip James had a family with his first wife, Louisa Stewart (1868 - 1902) but she passed away in January of 1902.

Sarah Elah Gould (1878 - 1934) was widowed on November 26, 1930 when Phillip "Bud" James passed away at their home in Carthage, Leake, Mississippi. She then moved in with her Mother, Elizabeth F. (Moore) Gould (1856 - 1931) and her younger brother, William Jackson Gould (1882 - 1955) in the Oak Grove community of Lake, Scott, Mississippi until she passed away on November 5, 1934. She was laid to rest near her father, Green Graham Gould (1855 - 1919) who preceded her in death by 15 years at Pine Ridge Cemetery in Hazel, Newton, Mississippi.
