Walter William Battershell, 86, of 14828 Gaskill Rd., N. W. former owner and operator of the Battershell Gulf Service Station was pronounced dead on arrival at the City Hospital Thursday at 8:15 p.m. He was stricken with a heart attack while visiting the station.
A life resident of the area, Mr. Battershell served as a Lexington Township trustee for 16 years and as a member of the Lexington Township Board of Education for eight years. Prior to his retirement, Jan. 1, he operated the service station for eight years.
Before the management of the the station, he operated the Battershell Dairy fo 30 years. He was born in Alliance Aug. 5, 1893 and was a member of the Bolton Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Esther; two sons, Charles William of the home and Kenneth A. of Alliance; two daughters, Mrs. Betty Freeman of the home and Mrs. Ramona Chepke of Diamond; four brothers, Philip, Roy and Charles, all of Alliance, and Carr of Cuyahoga Falls; three sisters, Mrs. Nellie Emery and Mrs. Ora Haas, both of Alliance; and Mrs. Opal McGirr of Skokie, Ill., and five grandchildren.
