Nellie E. Emery, a former resident of Aebi Avenue, was pronounced dead on arrival at Aultman Community Hospital at 3:07 a.m. today following an extended illness.

Mrs. Emery was born Dec. 31, 1897, in Mahoning County, to William and Alice Caves Battershell, and lived in this area all of her life. She retired in 1963 from the former AllianceWare.

Mrs. Emery was a member of First Christian Church, Sons of Union Veterans Auxiliary, and Hardscrabble Farm Women's Club, and a charter member and former secretary of Lexington Grange. Her husband, Norman J. died in 1941.

She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Lewis (Lois) Frederick and Mrs. Donald (Donna) Hoover, both of Alliance, and Mrs. Robert (Jane) Ruthrauff of Salem; 14 grandchildren; and 34 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by four sisters and six brothers.
