Mother of Twelve Is Summoned at Walhonding

Mrs. Keren R Allen, 60, died at her home near Walhonding at 3:15 o'clock Tuesday afternoon from double pneumonia. She had been ill for the last two weeks.
Keren R Carpenter was born Sept 22, 1871 in Newcastle tp., where she spent her entire life. She was married to James B Allen on Sept 27, 1889. Mrs. Allen was a member of the Church of Christ at Walhonding.
There are surviving, her husband and twelve children, Mrs. Nellie Croskey of Millersburg, Mrs. Hattie Croskey of Osborne, Russell Allen of Newcastle, Mrs. Lovie Stringfellow of Brinkhaven, Mrs. Dema Phillips of Canton, Miss Minnie Allen of New Mexico, James Allen of the home, Mrs. Alice Mizer of Canton, George Allen of California, Lewis, Ruth and Morris Allen, all of the home; twenty six grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Three sisters, Mrs. Sadie Berry, Mrs. Elijah Fortune, and Mrs. John Steele, all of California; two brothers, Simon Carpenter of Loudenville, and Lloyd Carpenter of Akron; and one half brother, Harnwell Carpenter of Akron also survive.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 1:30 o'clock at the Church of Christ at Walhonding, the cortege leaving the late home at 1 o'clock. Rev. R.J. McGoldrick will officiate and burial will be made at the Newcastle Cemetery.
