Susie Elizabeth Rothrock was the ninth of twelve known children of John Gideon Rothrock (1854-1929) and Lucinda Mariah Lawrence (1857-1927),who married 24 Dec 1876 at Forsyth County, North Carolina.

Susie married Avery David Luper (1891-1966) on 19 May 1912 at Forsyth County, North Carolina. Susie and Avery were the parents of six known children, namely:

1. Mildred Clarice Luper Brewer (1913-2000)
2. Hazel Lucinda Luper Pinnix (1915-2000)
3. Ophelia Victoria Luper Todd (1917-1979)
4. Willis Avery Luper (1920-1970)
5. Stella Dorothy Luper Aldridge (1921-1996)
6. David Gray Luper (1926-1989)
