Chester (Tommy) Goldsmith Dies at Medical Center

Chester (Tommy) Goldsmith, 49, of Edinburgh, owner of Edinburgh Used Appliance Store, died Friday afternoon at Indiana University Medical Center following a long illness.

The Rev. David Freeman conducted funeral services Monday at 1:30 p.m. at Eskew Funeral Home. Burial was at Rest Haven Cemetery with Richard Johnson, Herschel Smith, William T. Burton, William (Buddy) Hardin, Richard Hildebrand and Russell Stott serving as pallbearers.

Goldsmith was born at Munfordville, Ky., Nov. 23, 1931, the son of the late Claude Goldsmith and Dorinda Rucker Goldsmith of Edinburgh. He married Vivian Edwards, Aug. 9, 1970, and she survives. He was a member of Eastside Baptist Church.

Other survivors are two children, Janice Lanham of Corpus Christi, Texas, and Johnny Ray Goldsmith of Ocean Beach, Calif., five brothers, Howard, Herbert William, Elmo and Charles Goldsmith all of Edinburgh and James Goldsmith of San Diego, Calif., a sister, Ruth Donahue of Louisville, Ky.
