Howard L. "Goldie" Goldsmith Sr., 74 of Edinburgh, died Wednesday February 4, 2009 at his home.
He was retired from Amos-Hill Veneer where he had worked for 54 years. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Columbus. He enjoyed woodworking & crafts , fishing, flea marketing, bowling and spending time with his family.
The funeral will be Saturday at 2:30 pm at Bethel Baptist Church with Revs. John McKay and Mike Myers officiating. Visitation will be on Friday from 4:00- 8:00 at Norman Funeral Home in Hope and on Saturday from 1:00 until service time at the church. Burial will be at Bethel Baptist Cemetery. Born on January 4, 1935 in Munfordsville, Ky., Mr. Goldsmith was the son of Claude L. and Dorinda LuAnne Rucker Goldsmith. He married Agatha Carol McClintic on July 2, 1954 and she preceded him in death on April 24, 2007.
Survivors include daughters, Rosemary (Donald) Wade of North Vernon, Virginia G. (Steve) Ebert of Columbus, Rita A. (Michael) Ellison of Edinburgh and Cynthia G. (Gary) Poland of Columbus; a son, Howard (Natalie) L. Goldsmith Jr. of Columbus;fourteen grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one half sister, five brothers and a great grandchild.

The funeral for Howard L. Goldsmith Sr., 74, of Edinburgh was conducted Saturday at Bethel Baptist Church with the Revs. Mike Myers and John McKay officiating.
Anna Poland was organist, Breanna Goldsmith was pianist and K.R. Boucher was soloist.
Burial was at Bethel Baptist Cemetery.
Pallbearers were John Velten, John Wart Jr., Ashton Polly, Zachariah Goldsmith, Jeremy Wade, Gary Poland Jr., Kenneth R. Boucher II and Troy Polly.
Mr. Goldsmith died Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2009, at his home.
