She was born in 1865 as Jennie Van Zanten in the Dutch truck farmers settlement South Holland, Cook County, Illinois, just south of Chicago, daughter of Okke Van Zanten and, very probably, Jennie (Janna) Van der Kolk.

Her -Dutch- parents married in 1856 in Grand Haven, Michigan and had in 1859 in Chicago daughter Emma and in 1862 in Cook County, Illinois son John O Van Zanten.

Because Jennie got the given name of her -very probable- mother Jennie Van der Kolk, it's very likely that her mother died in Jennie's childbirth in September 1865.

Her father Okke Van Zanten remarried soon to the seven years younger and also Dutch Marrigje alias Mary Vinke, very probably in Cook County, Illinois.

In 1870 Jane (5), her father Okke Vanzanten (36, farmer), her stepmother Mary (29), her all in Illinois born (step)siblings Emily (9), John (7), Jacob (6), Dienke (3) and Garrit (11 months) lived at an own home, worth $2400, in Thornton, Cook County, just south of the Dutch truck farmers settlement South Holland and Chicago. Two homes further on Jennie's grandparents Jacob [Okkes] Vanzanten (59) and Dienke [Dieuwerke] (63) lived.

In 1875 her parents Okke Van Zanten and his wife Vinke had in the Dutch truck farmers settlement South Holland, just south of Chicago, Cook County, Illinois son Albert Van Zanten.

In 1880 Jane (14), her father Ockie Vanzanten (47, farmer), her stepmother Mary (37), her (step)siblings Jacob (16, laborer), Dora (12), Garrett (10), Gertie (7), Alt (4) and her stepgrandmother Jane Vinke (77, Netherlands, widow) lived in Thornton, Cook County, Illinois. Sister Emma Van Zanten (20 y) was in 1880 a domestic servant at the home of Lubert Vinke (46 y, widower and farmer) and his five children in Thornton too.

On 7 February 1883 her parents Okke Van Zantan and Margaret Vinke had in Chicago daughter Mamie C. and on 4 March 1885 in Cook County, Illinois daughter Lucy.

Jennie Vanzanten married on 24 February 1893 in Chicago, Cook County, Illinois at the age of 27 years to the one year older Rokus Degraaff.

In June 1900 Jane (35 y) and her husband Rokus De Graff (36 y, farmer) lived at an own farm in South Holland village, Thornton Township, Cook County, Illinois. The couple lived in 1910 and 1920 still in Thornton Township.

Her husband Rokus De Graaff died in 1928 in South Holland at the age of 63 years.

Very wrongly administrated as the single sister Rokus De Graaf (63) Jennie lived in 1930 with her (step)sisters Della (58, head), Mamie (47) and Lucy Van Zanten (45) (still) in South Holland.

In 1940 Jennie Degraaff (74), her sisters Della (67) and Lucy Vanzantan (55) lived at an own home, worth $4500 in still South Holland, Thornton Township, Cook County, Illinois. They lived in 1935 in the same house.

Lucy De Graaff died in 1943 at the age of about 77 years in South Holland, Cook County, Illinois.
