She was born in 1867 in Thornton [Township], Cook County, Illinois, just south of Chicago, very probably as Dienke Van Zanten, named for her paternal grandmother Dieuwerke Jans Allersma.

In 1870 Dienke (3), her father Okke Vanzanten (36, farmer), her mother Mary (29), her all in Illinois born siblings Emily (9), John (7), Jacob (6), Jane [Jennie] (5) and Garrit (11 months) lived at an own home, worth $2400, in Thornton [Township?], Cook County, Illinois.

In 1875 her parents Okke Van Zanten and Vinke had in the Dutch truck farmers settlement South Holland, just south of Chicago, Cook County, Illinois son Albert Van Zanten.

In 1880 Dora (12), her father Ockie Vanzanten (47, farmer), her mother Mary (37), her siblings Jacob (16, laborer), Jane (14), Dora (12), Garrett (10), Gertie (7), Alt (4) and her paternal grandmother Vinke (77, Netherlands, widow) lived in Thornton, Cook County, Illinois. Her sister Emma Van Zanten (20 y) was in 1880 a domestic servant at the home of Lubert Vinke (46 y, widower and farmer) and his five children in Thornton too.

On 7 February 1883 her parents Okke Van Zantan and Margaret Vinke had in Chicago daughter Mamie C. and on 4 March 1885 in Cook County, Illinois daughter Lucy.

On 25 Dec 1902 Dora O. Vanzanten married in Chicago, Cook, Illinois at the age of 35 years to seven years older Johannes C. Ravensloot, who had Dutch parents too.

In 1910 Dora (43), her husband Johanius Ravensloot (50, born in Illinois), their children Bertha (5, Illinois), Okke P G (4, Illinois) and Myra L (0, Illinois) lived in Thornton [Township?], Cook County, Illinois.

Dora Ravensloot died in 1911 at the age of about 34 years, very probably in South Holland or Thornton, Cook County, Illinois.

In 1920 her widower John C Ravensloot (59) and the children Bertha Ravensloot ((15), Orville (14) and Myra Ravensloot (10) lived at an own home in the Dutch truck farmers settlement South Holland, just south of Chicago.

Her widow John C. Ravesloot died in 1935 at the age of about 75 years and is buried in the Holland Section of Homewood Memorial Gardens next to Dora.
