Marjorie was surrounded by her family at her home in Oskaloosa when she went home to be with her Lord early Saturday morning. She served her Lord for 88 years, 2 months and 26 days.

Marjorie Van Mersbergen, daughter of Floris and Marie Fynaardt Vander Schaaf, was born March 9, 1923 at the rural home of her parents near Givin, Iowa. She was a Honor Graduate of Red Country School in Harrison Township. Following her education, Marjorie helped on the family farm. September 6, 1941, Marjorie made her Profession of Faith at the First Christian Reformed Church in Oskaloosa. She was united in marriage with Marius "Mose" Van Mersbergen on December 23, 1943. They made their home on a farm north of Wright. Marjorie helped Mose with the farming and kept the operation going during the year and a helf that Mose was serving in WWII. In 1954, Mose and Marjorie bought a farm SE of Cedar. White living in the Wright/Cedar area, Marjorie and Mose were members of the Cedar Christian Reformed Church where Marjorie served as a Sunday school teacher. As the wife of a farmer and the mother of five children, Marjorie kept very busy with gardening, canning, baking and sewing. In 1976, Marjorie and Mose moved to their home on Clearview Drive in Oskaloosa. They transferred their membership back to the First Churistian Reformed Church and Marjorie enjoyed the fellowship of the Ladies Bible Hour. Marjorie's first priorities were always her faith and her famiy; her greatest treasure was the knowledge that her children and gandchildren were walking with the Lord.

Marjorie's family includes a son and daughter-in-law, Norman and Vicki Van Mersbergen of Cedar; daughters and sons-in-law: Mary and John C. Roose of New Sharon and Florene and Brian Tucker of Pensacola, FL; and a daughter-in-law, Kathy Van Mersbergen of Pella; 14 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, Seymour and Anita Vander Schasf of Urbandale, sisters and brothers-in-law: Leona and Martin Nunnikhoven of Pella, Cynthia and Junior Langstraat fo Otley and Abe Nunnikhoven of Oskaloosa; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Marjorie was preceded in death by her husband, Marius on July 19, 1985; sons: Derrel on May 6, 2003 and Gary on June 1, 2010; sisters: an infant sister in 1929 and Harriett Nunnikhoven in July 1981; a brother, Marvin Vander Schaaf on April 1, 2010; and a sister-in-law, Tressa Vander Schaaf on June 27, 1992.

Funeral Service: 1:30 pm Tuesday afternoon, June 7, 2011 at the First Christian Reformed Church with Reverend Dale Visser officiating. A family prayer service will be held in the church basement at 1:15 pm preceding the funeral service. Visitation: will begin at 10 am Monday morning, June 6, 2011 at the Garland-Van Arkel Langkamp Funeral Chapel; the family will be present from 5-7 pm to greet friends and relatives. Interment: Forest Cemetery in Oskaloosa, Iowa.
