MARIUS VAN MERSBERGEN

Marius "Mose" Van Mersbergen, 64, of Oskaloosa died of lung cancer July 19, 1985 at Mahaska County Hospital.

He was born Sept 23. 1920 at Sully to Herman and Sietske Terpstra Van Mersbergen. He married Marjorie Vander Schaaf on Dec 23, 1943 He served in the Philippines and Japan during World War II. He was a life-long member of Christian Reform Church and had served as deacon, young adult Bible leader and Sunday school teacher. He graduated from Sully Christian School, served on the board of the Oskaloosa Christian School and was on the Bethel Mission Board.

He is survived by his wife, three sons. Derrel of Fremont. Norman of Cedar and Gary of Rock Valley, two daughters. Mary Roose of New Sharon and Florence Tucker of Oskaloosa. 12 grandchildren, two brothers. Lawrence of Oskaloosa and Herman of Pella: and four sisters. Nellie Rus of Pella, Jeanette and Harriet Van Mersbergen, both of Osakloosa and Adeline Eveland of Oskaloosa.

The service was at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at First Christian Reform Church in Oskaloosa. The Rev Peter Vander Weide officiating. Burial was in Forest Cemetery A memorial has been established to the Luke Society, a medical missionary endeavor
