Edward J. Riding, 75, native of Venango County, died at 4:45 p.m. Sunday in his home at Butler RD3, following a lingering illness.
He was born in this county of June 5, 1882, and was a member of the Free Methodist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Eva Christina Foster Riding; seven sons, eight daughters, four sisters, 30 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.

Friends of Edward J. Riding of Butler R.D. 3, who died Sunday, Dec. 29, 1957, will be received at the Geibel Funeral Home Monday and Tuesday. Funeral services will be held from the funeral home. Burial will be in New Hope Cemetery.
NOTE: Catherine R. Rodgers Riding is Edward's step-mother.
Prudence Mayberry is his biological mother.
