William "Bill" Riding

William "Bill" Robert Riding, 75 of Summit Township died Tuesday at Butler Memorial Hospital.

born in Butler, Nov. 14, 1928, he was a son of Edward and Eva Christine Foster Riding.

Mr. Riding was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a sergeant in the occupation of Japan in World War II. He received the Victory Medal and the Army Occupation Medal of Japan.

He was a fleet mechanic for the BMI Refineries in East Butler until his retirement in 1993 and was a lifelong member of the Teamsters Union.

Mr. Riding attended the Free Methodist Church in Butler and was an avid fisherman and enjoyed tinkering.

He is survived by his wife, Ida Mae Elizabeth Reges Riding, whom he married June 30, 1950; two daughters, Crystal A. Riding of Butler and Cynthia I. Riding of the Florida Keys; a sister, Shirley Skillman of New Castle; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by eight sisters and eight brothers.

Friends of William "Bill" Riding, who died Tuesday, November 18, 2003, will be received at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home. Services will be on Friday. Burial will be in the Greenlawn Burial Estates in Mount Chestnut.
