~Great Great Great Great Grandmother~

Lydia was the daughter of William Richards
and Abigail Lay. She was the granddaughter of
William Richards and Martha 'Mills'. Also of
Abraham Lay and Sarah 'Grimes'.

Lydia 'Richards' Atchley was the wife of Thomas Atchley 1.
The couple was married in 1780, Loudoun County, Va.
Soon after, they moved to Botetourt County, Va., until 1786, when they moved to Sevier Co., Tennessee.
She was born August 18, 1762. There has been 3 different birth dates for Lydia? One was 1765 and her tombstone has 1761. The Revolutionary War pension claim shows it as August 18, 1762, which is believed to be the correct one. She was a very religious lady and Baptist by faith. Lydia and her husband, Thomas Atchley 1 were charter members of Alder Branch Baptist Church, which was first organized in their home in Sevier County, Tennessee.

She was the mother of 12 children:

Mary 11
Sarah
Isaac 1
Benjamin 1
Joshua 11
Lydia 11
Thomas 11
Jane
Elizabeth
Rhoda
Noah

After Thomas' death, Lydia applied for his
Rev. War pension. At the time she was living
w/her son Isaac Atchley and family. Later
records show she was living w/her son Noah
Atchley and family.

Lydia is buried beside her husband, Thomas
and they have one tombstone marking both of
their graves.
