SOUTH BEND--Joan Ruth Bankowski, 74, of Schaumburg, Ill., formerly of South Bend, died Wednesday in Hoffman Estates (Ill.) Medical Center. Mrs. Raymond Bankowski retired from Sears Roebuck & Co., as division manager after 29 years of service. She was born Feb. 9, 1921, in South Bend. On Dec. 12, 1942, as Joan R. Prawat, she married Ray F. Bankowski. He survives with a son, Dennis R. of Barrington, Ill., and a grandson.
Memorial services will be at noon Feb. 17 in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, South Bend. Cremation has taken place. Stirlen-Pieper Funeral Home, Barrington, is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to National Kidney Foundation of Illinois, 600 S. Federal St., Suite 403, Chicago, IL 60605.
