SOUTH BEND--Raymond Frank Bankowski, 78, of Schaumburg, Ill., formerly of South Bend, died Wednesday in the Hoffman Estates Medical Center, Hoffman Estates, Ill.

Survivors include his son, Dennis of Barrington, Ill.; seven sisters, Regina Kazda, Helen Pierce, Clara Lupa and Jean Kaczorowski, all of South Bned, Etta Fournier and Alice DeBel, both of Mishawaka, and Dolly Mull of Three Rivers; and two brothers, Harry of South Bend and Don of Mesa, Ariz.

The Stirlen-Pieper and Davenport Funeral Home, Barrington, is handling arrangements.

RAYMOND F. BANKOWSKI

Raymond Frank Bankowski, 78, of Schaumburg, Ill., and formerly of South Bend, Ind., for 50 years and of Atlanta, Ga., died on Wednesday, Dec. 2, 1998, at the Hoffman Estates Medical Center, Hoffman Estates, Ill.

Born on Nov. 20, 1920, in South Bend, Mr. Bankowski was a manager for Wheel Horse Products in South Bend and Chamblee, Ga., for many years before owning and operating his own dry-cleaning business.

He served in the 83rd Infantry Division of the U.S. Army during World War II, was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and Streamwood, Ill., VFW Post #5151.

Survivors include his son, Dennis (Judi) of Barrington, Ill.; grandson, Dr. Brandon Jon (Susan) Bankowski of Baltimore, Md.; sisters, Regina Kazda, Helen Pierce, Clara Lupa, Jean Kaczorowski, all of South Bend, Etta Fournier and Alice DeBel of Mishawaka, Ind., and Dolly (Dick) Mull of Three Rivers, Mich., and Phoenix, Ariz.; brothers, Harry (Delores) of South Bend and Don of Mesa, Ariz.; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Joan Ruth (nee Prawat), who he married on Dec. 12, 1942, in Columbus, Ind.; and by his parents, Frank and Maryanna Bankowski.

Memorials may be made to the V.F.W., Post #5151, P.O. Box 9, Streamwood, IL 60107.
