John J. Prawat, 74, of 1726 S. Nash St., was found dead in his residence by his son Ralph Monday.
Fire Department ambulance aid men, who were summoned, said he had suffered an apparent heart attack. County Coroner Dr. Harry Ludwick ruled the death was due to natural causes and estimated that Mr. Prawat died shortly before he was found. Mr. Prawat had been ill for over a year.
He was a retired Hostler with the Grand Trunk Railroad. Born March 8, 1896, in South Bend, he had lived here all his life.
On May 23, 1920, at Terre Coupe, Indiana; he married Laura Wroblewski, who survives. Also vurviving in addition to his son Ralph are a daughter, Mrs. Joan Bankowski; a grandchild; a brother, Bert; and a sister, Mrs. Josephine Marshall, all of South Bend.
Friends may call Today and Wednesday at the St. Joseph Funeral Home. Services will be conducted at 9 am Thursday in Our Lady of Hungary Catholic Church, by Rt. Rev. Mrsgr. John Sabo, pastor. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Mr. Prawat was a veteran of WWI and a member of Disabled American Veterans chapter 6 and American Legion Pulaski Post 357.
