A document dated Sept 13, 1869 from the Switzerland County Courthouse was an agreement between Arnold Hinman and his wife, Elizabeth, and their son Lorenzo W. Hinman. It gave all Arnold and Elizabeth's real estate to Lorenzo with the terms that he would pay all their existing debt. They would also be allowed to live on part of the land for the remainder of their lives. It also stipulated that their unmarried daughter Clarissa Ann Matilda Hinman could make her home on the land as long as she was unmarried. The note mentions that Arnold had a debt to Lorenzo and to Joseph A. Arnold, Lorenzo's son.
There is a note written on the side dated 17 Mar 1874 that is cut off. The legible part reads that Clarissa Ann Matilda Craig and John C. Craig would perform the above duties that Lorenzo W. Hinman was previously bound to.
"Matilda Hinman" married John C.Craig 20 Mar 1870 in Switzerland County. A couple of John Craig's daughters married into this Hinman line.
