Notes of Etta Jane Hays (descendant and researcher):
Lorenzo Dow Hinman was born 8 May 1811, New York State, the son of Andrew Hinman and Triphena Johnson Hinman. He served with the unit that is same one on the cemetery stone, but from Camden County, Missouri. He apparently was in Taney County to visit his daughter Loreta Girtrude Hinman MERRELL (Mrs. William). Another daughter's Bible record lists his date of birth, but the date of death is not filled in. It was reported by his son-in-law to the Civil War pension commission that he had died before 4 November 1893, date and place unknown. His granddaughter stated to me that he died in Arkansas about 1894.
Loretta G. Hinman Merrell is also a daughter-Find A Grave Memorial# 21450692. Buried Nowata, Oklahoma
Two children died young.
