Obituary in the Frederick newspaper in February 1969 reads:
Roscoe Covert Murray, 131 West Third Street, a well known retired hardware dealer, died Tuesday evening at Western Maryland Hospital after a lengthy illness. He was born in Hereford, West Virginia July 27, 1891, a son of the late Rev. Levi F. and Arrilla Van Gorder Murray. Surviving is his wife, Mrs. Dorothy R. Bell Murray, one son Charles F. Murray, this city and two grandchildren Ross Covert Murray and Gail Louise Murray.
Mr. Murray retired after a business career of 47 years. He was a partner in the Community Hardware Company, located on the corner of West Third and North Market Streets. He was a member of the Parkway Church of God and for many years was Superintendent of the Sunday School. He was also a member of the Frederick County Fish and Game Protective Association.
Friends may call at the M.R. Etchison and Son Funeral Home, 106 E. Church Street, Thursday evening from 7-9. Services will take place from the funeral home on Friday at 10:30Am. Interment will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery. His pastor, Rev. F.P. Frose will officiate and assisting will be the Rev. Paul L Althouse, pastor of Evangelical Reformed United Church of Christ.
