Prominent in Ministry of Church of Brethren; Funeral This Afternoon.
Rev. L. F. Murray, retired minister of the Maryland and Virginia Eldership of the Church of God, died Saturday morning shortly after 10 o'clock, at the home of his son, Roscoe C. Murray, West Third Street, this city. He was aged 82 years, five months and 15 days. Death was due to angina pectoris.
Rev. Mr. Murray was born in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, being a member of a family of ministers, his father and four brothers being ministers of the Church of the Brethren, and two brothers who were ministers of the Church of God. He spent about 21 years of his ministry in mission work of the West Pennsylvania Eldership and of the West Virginia Eldership, South, in the organization of which he was largely instrumental. He was ordained to the ministry by Rev. John Hickernell in 1887 at Alverton, Pa.
Rev. Mr. Murray came to Maryland in 1897 and served successfully the following circuit; Carrollton, Woodsboro, Uniontown, Bark Hill, Broad Fording, Blue Mountain and Edgewood, five miles west of Frederick.
He is survived by the following children of a second marriage; Elmer Murray, China; Sherman Murray, Seattle, Washington; Roscoe C. Murray and Carrollton Murray of this city; Mrs. Arminta Reeder, Westminster. Rev. Mr. Murray is also survived by a number of children by a former marriage. The deceased is also survived by a number of brothers and sisters.
Funeral will take place this afternoon, leaving at 2:30 o'clock from the home of his daughter, Mrs. Reeder 226 West Main Street, Westminster. Services will be held in the Carrollton Bethel, conducted by Rev. Samuel a. Kipe. Interment in Cemetery adjoining.

Levi was first married to Rebecca Ann Morris. They had 7 children: Elizabeth Leota, Samuel H., Thomas James, John A., Edward, Henry L., and Rebecca Murray.
Levi's first wife, Rebecca Morris, died shortly after giving birth to their last child, Rebecca, who also died. They are buried together.
Levi's second wife was Allrilla VanGorder. They had 5 children: Elmer, Sherman, Roscoe, Carrollton and Arminta.
Allrilla died in 1902.
Levi's third wife was Ida E Hesson. They married October 30, 1906. It appears that Ida was only married once.There were no children born to the marriage of Ida and Levi. She died in 1922.
