Kenneth H. Baker, 87, a resident of Piney Mountain Home, Fayetteville, and formerly of 123 Hamilton Ave., Waynesboro, died at 3:45 p.m. Friday, Feb 19, 1999, in the nursing home. He had been in failing health for the past several years and critically ill for the past month.
Born Nov. 10, 1911, in Waynesboro, he was the son of the late Harry David and Elsie Myrtle (Willard) Baker. He lived his early life in Waynesboro, later moving to Cascade.
He and his first wife, Annie E. (Crumbacker) Trite Baker were married July 30, 1936. She died Sept. 11, 1971. He married Frances Larue (Verdier) Baker on Dec 8, 1971. They moved to the present residence following their marriage.
Mr. Baker was employed with Landis Tool Co., Waynesboro for 42 years, working first in the stockroom and then in the production department, retiring in August, 1980.
He was a member of Otterbein United Brethren in Christ Church, Pen Mar, Md.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Baker is survived by one son, Richard K. Baker of Smithsburg; four stepdaughters, Patricia May Green of Richmond, Va., Frances Blickenstaff of Smithsburg, Elizabeth Wagaman of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Particia Wagaman of Severn, Md.; two stepsons, C. Marshall Trite of Mount Holly, N.C. and Charles E. Trite of Cascade; two grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; a number of step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; one sister, Carrie Dayhoff of Hamilton, Ohio; one brother, Merle Baker of Cascade; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and first wife, Mr. Baker was preceded in death by a son, John L. Baker in 1990; two sisters, Edith Rock and Evelyn Woodring; and one brother, Harold Baker.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday in Grove Funeral Home, Waynesboro, with the Rev. Robert F. Bonne officiating. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro.
