The Gettysburg Times April 8, 1948
Mrs. Ellen Plank, 52 wife of Paul L Plank, Sr., Gettysburg R1, died in the ambulance enroute to the Warner hospital this afternoon shortly after 1:00.
Mrs. Plank called at the office of Dr. David C Stoner this morning and complained of a pain in her back. Dr. Stoner wrote her a prescription after which Mrs. Plank returned home.
It was not determined what medicine, if any, Mrs. Plank took nor could it be learned whether she had the prescription filled.
A daughter found her mother lying on the floor in convulsions this afternoon and after failing to reach Dr. Stoner called the hospital and the ambulance was sent to the Plank home.
Dr. Walter S Mountain, deputy Adams county coroner was called in the absence of Coroner Dr. C G Crist. Doctor Mountain said he was conducting an investigation assisted by state police. A post mortem will be conducted this afternoon he said.
She was a daughter of the late Grant Funt and Mrs. Funt, North Stratton street.
Surviving are her husband; six children, Charles, Baltimore; Paul, Jr., Greenmount; Mrs. Ruth Kelly, Gettysburg R1; Mrs. Jesse Hoffman, Greenmount; Mrs. Kenneth Wetzel, McKnightstown; Mrs. Francis Shultz. At home; a number of grandchildren; her mother; four sisters, Mrs. Bessie Yingling, Water St.; Mrs. Grace Huff, North Stratton street; Mrs. Lloyd Richardson, Carlisle Street, and Mrs. Pinkney Hess, Breckenridge Street.
