Struck by the engine of an eastbound Western Maryland freight train as he sat on the track, near the Orrtanna station, Saturday evening at 10:00, George Theodore Funt, 30 year-old Orrtanna blacksmith, suffered injuries which resulted in his death at 11:30.
Funt, father of four children, suffered a fractured skull, a broken right leg and hip and internal injuries.
…….Funt was the only son of Mrs. Rebecca Funt and the late Grant Funt.
He is survived by his widow whose maiden name was Miss Dola Richardson; four children Minnie, Betty, Mary Jane and George William Funt, all at home; his mother and six sisters; Mrs. Plukney B. Hess, Mrs. Paul Plank and Mrs. Bessie Sadler, all of Gettysburg; Mrs. John Sheads, Atlantic City; Mrs. Lloyd Richardson, Seven Stars, and Mrs. Charles Huff, Orrtanna.
Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon, meeting at the home of Funt’s mother at 1:00, with concluding services at Flohr’s Lutheran church, the Rev. George b. Ely officiating. Interment in the church cemetery.
