Evelyn Eakin Atkinson, 89, went to be with her Lord on Sunday, November 19, 2017.

Mrs. Atkinson was born in Decatur County, GA in 1928 and was a longtime resident of Beech Island, SC. She was a member of Historic First Baptist Church of Beech Island, where she was a preschool teacher. Mrs. Atkinson was also a past member of Beech Island Historical Society, Augusta Genealogy Society and a docent at the Aiken Museum.

Family members include daughters: Emily Atkinson Munn (Gary) of Hoschton, GA, Fran Atkinson DeGregoria (Don) of Hilton Head Island, SC; grandchildren: Julie Munn Williams (Jack), Kelley Munn Collins (Graham), Benjamin Sigmon; five great-grandchildren; sisters: Doris Rauton (Ray) of Ridge Spring, SC, Elaine Sanders (Edwin) of Cairo, GA; brother: John Eakin (Ruth) of Quincy, FL; and sisters-in-law: Judy Eakin of Georgetown, GA, Jean Eakin of Madison, GA and Florence Anne Whittle of Beech Island, SC. She was preceded in death by her husband: Frank W. Atkinson, Jr.; parents: William Hanes and Jeannie Florence Musgrove Eakin; sister: Lil Wagner; and brothers: Hanes Eakin, G.M. Eakin and Ronald Eakin.

Graveside services will be Saturday, November 25, 2017 at 1:00 P.M. at Hammond Cemetery, Beech Island, SC with Rev. Finley Limehouse officiating.

In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions be made to Historic First Baptist Church, 170 Church Road, Beech Island, SC 29842.

The family will receive friends following the service at the cemetery.
